We are delighted to announce that Teasy Shiruo Sun is the winner of the Luna/ Dot to Dot Design contest!
Teasy Shiruo Sun is a children’s wear/ textile designer who graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2018. She originates from Shanghai, China and is currently based in New York City.
Peggy Juche of Lunamag selected Teasy as the winner of our first design contest and said:
“Children are clearly the focus of Teasy Shiruo Sun. Luna was impressed by the fabrics, illustrations and incorporation of toys in the garments. A fantastic mix and a refreshing change in today’s children’s fashion industry. We were also smitten by her online presentation and humour!”
As a children’s wear designer, Teasy wants the wearer to play and learn through her designs. Her design approach is to create interactive toy garments through her knowledge of textiles and her unique illustration style. Children will learn from what they wear as they play, and use their imagination to create some special moments with their outfits. Teasy wants the designs to entertain children and inspire them to lead a happy and positive life.
Teasy will travel to London to bring her wonderful collection to Dot to Dot SS19, she describes her collection for us:
“Ah La” is an interactive children’s wear collection that applys playing and educating through fashion and textile design. Inspired by the designer, Teasy Shiruo Sun’s childhood stories with her grandfather, the collection is an interactive trip to Shanghai. By wearing each look in the collection, the wearer travels to a different place in Shanghai. Each look is an individual game/toy, and by playing and interacting with the garment, the wearer gets to learn about a life concept in the context of Shanghainese culture.”
